It's.... ALIVE!!!!!!! ARGHHHHH!!!!!

well.... I realize it's been a while (13 months in fact), and while I can legitimately claim "life's been busy"--- that is a simplification, as well as an excuse. So, on this... the third day of 2014, I'd like to hope that I'll be more successful in the new year. I'd call it a resolution, but I fear doing that will curse me to failure.

The time away from this blog has been filled with successes and failures of both professional and academian miens. I've settled more into my teaching position at Ithaca College, and the ramifications that has on my work as a professional designer. There are only so many ways you can spread yourself thin before quality begins to suffer... a lesson I knew, but apparently needed to re-learn. I'm hopeful that I'm back on better tracks moving forward. This time of reflection has also afforded me the chance to think about the purpose of this blog and how, like the rest of my life and world, it needs to shift with newer tides. Therefore, after my plans for the next two blog posts in the next couple of days, there's a new direction that this will take. Instead of just posting on/around tech for shows, I want to challenge myself to make it a weekly blog, using it as a reference and discussion point to what's on my "drawing board" at whatever given moment. This is, of course, presuming that there are projects in the offing. I'm looking at a very lean spring with the exception of my current project (which I'll post about in the next couple days) as well as the upcoming opera, L'ETOILE at Ithaca College in February. I'm hopeful that this slight break will allow me the chance to prepare for summer projects (which I plan to post about weekly), as well as work on other aspects of my work as a designer and educator, both of which need (and deserve) some attention. Some of which I'll certainly be referring to on this blog.

In the intervening months, I've designed a second remount (third production) of Jon Jory's adaptation of SENSE AND SENSIBILITY, this time at Repertory Theatre St. Louis; a remount of Hypocrites' THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE at American Repertory Theatre, a new production of LEGALLY BLONDE, the musical at Merry-Go-Round Playhouse in Auburn, NY; 4000 MILES at Hangar Theatre in Ithaca, NY; INTO THE WOODS at Ithaca College, and Jon Jory's adaptation of TOM JONES at Actors Theatre Louisville. I'll post in the coming days with a quick summation and set of pictures from those projects.

I'm currently back for yet another Hypocrites' PIRATES OF PENZANCE, now at Actors Theatre Louisville. I'll post about it tomorrow!
